Kayak/Paddleboard & Cruise from Ruby Island

Can’t decide between a kayak or a water taxi? Pick both! Our Kayak (or paddleboard) and Cruise package is a fun and affordable to get out on Lake Wānaka. Enjoy a comfortable paddle out along the coastline to Ruby Island and spend a couple of hours to relax, have a picnic or explore Wānaka’s closest island. To top it off, take a 10min boat ride back to town. It’s the perfect half-day activity! You’ll pick up your kayak from the Paddle Wānaka waterfront rental van and enjoy an hour paddle out to Ruby Island. It’s a small island, with a 20min loop track, so we suggest taking a picnic, book and towel to relax and enjoy. The Paddle Wānaka Island shuttle will pick you up at your designated departure time, and you can enjoy a 10min ride back to town. Looking for something with a bit more action? Check out The Mission. Itinerary

Book on to our Kayak and Cruise at either*:
- 9 am
- 12noon
- 3 pm
Head to the waterfront van to get set up with your kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Our waterfront crew will run over what you need to know.
Pick a shuttle departure time (at the waterfront) for either 12noon, 3 pm or 6 pm. Wait at the Ruby Island Jetty at this time and you’ll see our boat.

What to Bring?

You’ll need to take your cell phone for this one in case of emergencies. We also suggest bringing clothes suitable for the day (always pack a jumper), a picnic/water/snacks, plus anything you’d need for a couple of hours chilling on an island. Our double kayaks have a centre hatch for storing a small backpack. *We’ll always provide double kayaks unless there is an odd number of paddlers.
